The protective protection is carried out regardless of the presence and quality of the internal anti-corrosion dielectric coating of the bullets.
Tread protection is carried out using an extended tread made of a special alloy, which is placed in a bullet on the ribs or reinforcement of the shell stiffness or on specially welded spacers.

1 – Bullitt. 2 – Mounting beams are spacers or horizontal ribs of the bullitt's triangle of rigidity.
3 – The protector. 4 – Potential measurement unit. 5 – The reinforcing rod of the tread.
6 –The place where the reinforcing rod is welded to the bullit reinforcement or mounting beam.
7 – A working steel electrode.
The essence of tread protection lies in the fact that when a metal tread having a more negative potential comes into contact with a bullite that comes into contact with a common electrolyte (water), the potential of the bullite shifts to the negative side (up to the value of the potential of the tread). At the same time, the corrosion rate is reduced to almost zero.
The number of extended treads installed in parallel is determined by calculation.
The individual protectors are laid in a line and interconnected by welding reinforcing rods. Each tread line is fixed to the spacers with clamps in several places and connected to the bullit reinforcement by welding the reinforcing rod of the tread. Between the tread lines on the spacer opposite the hatch, a working steel electrode is fixed with a working surface inside the bullion. A potential measuring unit and an oil seal for the wire from the working electrode are mounted on the manhole cover.
